ARSENT was founded in Surabaya in 2014. From the beginning, the studio was built around a single belief: that design, construction, and making should not be separate trades handed between strangers, but one continuous craft kept under one roof.
Design, build, and make — under one roof.
Most studios design a space and hand it to a contractor, who sources furniture from a catalogue. At each handoff, something is lost. We removed the handoffs. The same collective that draws your building constructs it, and the same workshop that fits your kitchen makes the table you’ll sit at.
This is the difference you feel rather than see — a coherence that handed-off work never quite achieves. It’s also why we stay a team rather than a name: no single pair of hands makes a building, a fit-out, and the furniture within it.
How we work.
We take on a small number of projects each year, most by referral. Each begins with a conversation at the studio — not a questionnaire — and a written proposal within two weeks. From there, the collective carries the work through to the day we hand back the keys.
